The A-T NEST, which stands for A-T Neurological Examination Scale Toolkit, is as the name suggests a tool for measuring the neurological deficit in A-T. It has been developed by a group comprising some of the most experienced paediatric neurologists working with A-T to help evaluate and give a score to the various domains most commonly affected in A-T and by combining these to produce an overall score.
Although the A-T NEST has been used by a number of neurologists for some years, it has not yet been formally evaluated. However, this is now being done as part of the overall project funded by the Horizon 2020 grant which is funding this registry.
The A-T NEST assigns scores across nine domains: communications; eye-movements; ataxia; movement disorder; power; neuropathy; growth; nutrition; learning ability.
